The Hague build a pyre of wood on their beach, and to celebrate the dawn of life in a new year, burn it down. Fifteen hundred years earlier their ancestors did the same.

In ancient Greece open air shows used cranes to hoist actors into the air, providing the special effects the audience could look up to, and believe larger than life.

I was lost in this artist illustrations long into the night. I wasn’t sure at first how I would categorize his pieces. But after a while of studying them I think its best they go under historical reconstructions. If you want to find more of his work you can find him here.

What looks like an extensive amount of time spent on historical accuracy I’m intrigued to see how this game plays.

This time period stands out in much of Chinese lore and history, and I’m intrigued to see it fleshed out by Sega and Creative Assembly in the Fall.

This ever expanding grand strategy wargame has taken up many hours of my historical nerd time. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to visit a well researched living map of the medieval world. I’m excited to see what is presented in the medieval China addition presented in Jade Dragon.

Battle of Nations 2017

And at http://botn.info/en/. Both of the these events just blow me away on how people take these blows and keep going. Even though the weapons are blunted it’s probably the best example of how these conflicts would have been like in terms of speed and chaos.

Britannia

First couple episodes have come out and I’m holding out hope that this series will gain enough traction that it will be able to correct the places where it falls short. Till then I’ll continue to watch like a true sucker for these historical fictions that depict the clash of cultures in Europe.

Total War Thrones of Britanni

Alfred The Great

I’ve been a fan of this this series since the first Shogun came out in 2001. It’s a treat to highlight this game and look I forward to playing in this time period that is getting a lot of attention due to other entertainment series like Vikings and The Last Kingdom.

Furious – The Legend Of Kolovrat

Another Russian film that I’m intrigued to find. The film is based on the period when Russia was under control of the Golden Horde. Ryazan knight Evpaty Kolovrat, is the leader of the squad, which decides to fight back khan Batu, who divided Russia.

The plot is based on The Tale of the Destruction of Riazan, a medieval military tale about the capture of the city of Ryazan by the Mongolsin 1237 and is one of the best sources of the Mongol invasion of Russia

VIKING

It has finally come to pass, an English dubbed version of this film that you can watch for free here. The film looks like an amazing addition to the historical fiction stories of vikings, with this tale explaining vikings impacts in the lands of Russia. Danila Kozlovsky, the main actor in this film, plays Vladimir the Great, Prince of Novgorod, and will appear in the sixth season of Vikings on the History Channel as Oleg the Prophet, or Oleg Novgorod, one of Oleg’s successors. Enjoy.
